Multilayer composite comprising main body of blended recycled polyethylene@ and polypropylene@

This new multilayer composite has a decoratively-surfaced body of recovered polyethylene (PE) and/or polypropylene (PP). The novel composite comprises further layers of polypropylene, adhesive and a decorative layer. Also claimed is the manufacture, in which PE and PP from waste are blended, with additives. This is coextruded to a main body of PE/PP blend, with a pure PP layer. The surface of the PP layer is physically pre-treated and solvent-free primer is applied and dried. Onto this, or onto the decorative sheet, moisture-hardened PUR melt adhesive is coated; both parts are then pressed together and cooled. The bond is hardened in 1-7 days, in atmospheric moisture. Also claimed is use of the composite in the building- structural-, component-, furniture-, automobile-, refrigerator- and appliance construction industries.
