The station consists of a feeder (22,24) for the sheet material panels (20), delivering them to a stop (30) so that they drop onto a stack being formed on an elevator table (60) which moves down as the stack grows, separator arms (70) connected to a cross-member (79) and an output conveyor (90,94). The station is equipped with front and rear temporary supports (45,40) for the panels, situated in a plane more or less parallel to the table (60) and on a level with the lower edge of stop (30). The drive for the separator arm cross-member (79) consists of a drive chain or belt (73) at each end of the cross-member, passing being the front stop (30) and round pulleys (74,77).
