PURPOSE: To obtain a base isolation structure having a superior damping performance over a wide area of vibration by allowing rigid plates to expand in the diameter direction by vertical direction pressure applied during ordinary use in a base isolation structure comprising rigid plates and flexible plates laminated alternately. CONSTITUTION: The base isolation structure is comprised of a plurality of rigid plates 3 having rigidity and flexible plates 2 having a viscoelasticity which are laminated alternately, and the rigid plates 3 are the ones which expand in the diameter direction by the agency of vertical direction pressure applied ordinarily. The rigid plates 3 are made of metal, ceramics, FRP, polyurethane, paper, and the like formed into a net 31 or spiral member 32. The flexible plates 2 consist of vulcanized rubber, unvulcanized rubber, a synthetic resin foam body, asphalt, clay, and the like. In this constitution, a base isolation structure can be obtained which has a good damping effect from micro-vibration such as traffic vibration to vibration in the case of a great earthquake, so that this structure can reduce the degree of a shake transmitted to buildings. |
