<p>A rigid expandable baton (8) for use as an intermediate force weapon by law enforcement personnel is of the type having a plurality of elongated, nesting, telescoping rigid baton sections (10,14,16), one of which is a handle (10) adapted for receiving and housing any remaining sections (14,16) when the baton is in a retracted, collapsed position, the remaining rigid sections being releasable outwardly from the handle and selectively self-locking in an extended position and slibably retractable into the collapsed position. The handle (10) has a hollow interior (12) and an open outer end through which any remaining rigid sections (14,16) pass. The handle is constructed of a first material having a first specific weight and a first hardness. An additional rigid baton section (16) has an outer perimeter adapted for passing through the open outer end of the handle. A selectively attachable sleeve (78) can be attached to the additionel baton section (16). <IMAGE></p> |
