Housing for mounting on a mounting rail

The housing (1) has a latch (1c) on its rear wall movable transversely wrt. the rail against the force of a restoring spring (1b) and with latching regions for engaging the rail from opposite sides. The latch can be locked in a position in which it is disengaged from the rail. The latch can pivot transversely wrt. its displacement plane and is designed to apply a latching fitting (1e) to a fixed counter region. The latch has a fitting (1h) which protrudes towards the central region of the rail and which covers the arms which engage behind the rail in the disengaged state. When the housing is set on the rails the latch is freed from the disengaged position to engage the rail with its latching region.
