PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a adjustable acousto-optic waveguide switch having optical paths in an equil. state. SOLUTION: This device has the routes 150, 160 of first and second optical waveguides varying in lengths within the optical waveguides and the difference between the lengths thereof is equal to the value determined by d=±λ(k+m), where (d) is the difference in the optical paths between the two optical waveguides,λis the wavelength of the light signal, (k) is a number above 0 and below 1, (m) is 0 or an integer. The difference described above is so determined than the first and second parasitic components of the light signals described above induce destructive interference in order to shift the phases of at least the parasitic components described above.
