PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accuratedly extract a linear contour part in an object image by a comparatively simple method. SOLUTION: A processing means 13 reads the wiring pattern image of a substrate 1 photographed by a camera 2 out of an image memory 12 and processes the wiring pattern image. The means 13 includes a contour tracking means 15 and a segment extraction means 16. A means 15 reads out an image to track a boundary lines and detects the tracking directions in sequence as the chain codes. The means 16 selects the segment that connects a point set on a chain code to another that is ahead of the point by a prescribed number of codes in every chain code, and calculates the slop difference between the detected segment and the reference one to decide that both segments are set on toe same straight line when the calculated slope difference is kept within a fixed range, and then extracts a straight line forming the contour of a subject image. |
