PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a board in recognition efficiency by a method wherein a wiring pattern is effectively recognized. SOLUTION: A processing means 13 which reads out the picture image of a wiring pattern of a board 1 picked up by a camera 2 from an image picture memory 12 and processes is provided, and the processing means 13 comprises an outline tracing means 15, a segment extracting means 16, and a fiducial positioning means 17. The outline tracing means 15 reads out the picture image, traces a border line, and detects the directions of tracing successively as chain codes, the segment extracting means 16 extracts rectilinear lines which make up the outline of the objective picture image, and the fiducial positioning means 17 which recognizes a wiring pattern from the extracted rectilinear lines and the stored fiducial data and determines the position of the board basing on the recognition. At this point, the wiring pattern is recognized based on the detection of the distinguishing parts of a wiring pattern such as corners or tips, and the coordinates of the corners and the tips are obtained as fiducial positions. |
