The work table comprises a surface which remains horizontal during adjustment. The linkage hinges on two fixed points (3,4) on the fixed part of the supporting frame (2) and on two others (5,6) on the moving part (16) supporting the table surface (11). Mechanical height adjustment is by a mechanism (12,12') hinging at opposite ends on the two parts. The fixed frame can comprise a set of inverted-T-shape support (9) jointed by lengthwise beams. The hinge points are on the uprights of the Ts. The adjusting mechanism is coupled between the bar of the T and a point above it on the moving frame.
