PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high precision filtration which uses a filter cloth having the conventional filtration precision to surely catch even a material of about 10μparticle diameter mixed in water. SOLUTION: A rotary drum 9 having a filter cloth 8 stretching over the outer peripheral surface is installed freely rotatable in a tank filter 1. Raw water is introduced inside the rotary drum 9, and is filtered while rotating the rotary drum 9. In this case, washing water is caused to flow down as a jetting flux proceeding toward the downstream side in the rotation direction of the rotary drum 9, and waste washing water passed through the filter cloth 8 is recovered in the rotary drum 9.
