PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain cinnamamide useful as a sedative/anesthetic for fish or a stabilizer for halogen-contg. resins, by culturing cinnamamide- productive bacteria belonging to Streptoverticillium followed by collecting the aimed product from the cultured product. SOLUTION: Cinnamamide-productive bacteria belonging to Streptoverticillium [e.g. Streptoverticillium sp.A-1143 strain (JCM No.4438)] is inoculated upon a medium and subjected to shaking culture at 28 deg.C for 2 days to prepare seeds, which is then cultured at 28 deg.C for 5 days under an aeration of 50L/min and agitation of 110rpm. The resultant culture fluid is then subjected to centrifugation and separated into microbes and a supernatant, and the supernatant is filtered and the filtrate is put through an adsorptive resin column. Subsequently, the adsorbed product is eluted with 80% methanol, the resultant elute is subjected to extraction with toluene, and the resultant extract is concentrated and then subjected to column chromatography, thus obtaining the objective cinnamamide. |
