PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute an optimum line feed operation in accordance with required image quality by a method wherein plural kinds of line feed modes are provided as a line feed operation and the line feed operation is executed by using the selected line feed mode. SOLUTION: Plural kinds of line feed modes are provided as a line feed operation of a recorder that allows a record head 84 to scan by n times (not less than 2 times). These are a normal line feed mode, a mode carrying out the equal quantity of line feed by n times in a recording width and a mode carrying out the fine and equal quantity of line feed by even number of times of n times. CPU 110 executes scanning of the record head 84 and printing of one line when one line of image data is stored in a one-line output buffer 118. Next, it judges what number of times the scanning is and the line feed is executed in accordance with one of the line feed modes which is selected based on the number of times of the scanning. For example, at the second time, the line feed of one pixel in an objective line by the selected line feed mode. After the line feed, the record head 84 is returned. In the first (n-1) line and the last (n-1) line, the line feed is executed by the normal line feed mode and in the other lines, the line feed is executed by the selected line feed mode so that it is possible to reduce blank portions of the front end and rear end and to enhance the image quality. |
