PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tail gut, which is relatively inexpensive, in place of nylon, does not deteriorate the interval of a stringed instrument and has excellent durability by forming this tail gut of a heavy metal having a specific value or above of the ratio of the sound velocity of longitudinal waves to the sound velocity of the transversal waves for propagation of sound. SOLUTION: This tail gut is formed out of a heavy metal, such as W or Mo, of >=2.0 in the ratio of the sound velocity of longitudinal waves the sound velocity of the transversal waves for propagation of sound. W, in particular, has sp. gr. of 19.3, highest among the metals and the propagation of the sound velocity thereof is 5460m/s, which belongs to the fastest group among the metals, in addition, the ratio of the longitudinal waves to the transversal waves is >=2.0, therefor, the smooth transmission of sound is possible. An alloy consisting of an infiltration body or sintered compact contg. W or Mo at >=50wt.% is usable a well. These heavy metals are usable in the form of the bar-shaped body subjected to bending or a rope forme by knitting the fine wire by subjecting the metals to swaging or further, drawing after sintering, then subjecting the worked metals to machining, etc., to form a bar-shaped body or fine body in the case of the infiltration body or sintered compact.
|
