PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect only an abnormal shadow candidate that has higher probability of an actual abnormal shadow among those abnormal shadow candidates which are detected by a method that detects the abnormal shadow candidates through an iris filter processing, etc. SOLUTION: The density histograms are calculated for a tumor shadow P1 and a pseudo abnormal shadow P3 which are detected by the iris filter processing (#) within these shadow areas. Then, the index value are calculated (#5-1... #5-6) based on those density histograms, and each index value is compared with a threshold value set previously (#6-1... #6-6). Then, the shadow P1 is judged (#8, #9) only when all index value points to an actual tumor shadow. |
