PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a charge/discharge cycle life, by providing a separator containing polyolefine synthetic resin fibers excellent in stability. SOLUTION: A positive electrode 2 containing nickel hydroxide, a negative electrode 4 containing a hydrogen storage alloy, a separator 3 interposed between the positive electrode 2 and the negative electrode 4 and containing polyolefine synthetic resin fibers having ion exchange groups, and an alkaline electrolytic solution having a concentration of 5 or more in normality are provided, and when it is assumed that an alkaline electrolytic solution equivalent per Ah of battery capacity is X(meq/Ah) and that an ion exchange quantity of the separator 3 per Ah of battery capacity is Y(meq/Ah), the said ion exchange quantity Y satisfies the following equation: 0.409-(X/55)}<=Y<=Y 0.636+(2X/55)}. |
