PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure high developing performance and high transferability and to give high image quality by using an electric charge controlling agent formed from prescribed amts. of an arom. carboxylic acid deriv., its metallic compd., an inorg. anion and an inorg. cation. SOLUTION: This toner has toner particles contg. at least a bonding resin, a colorant and an electric charge controlling agent formed from an arom. carboxylic acid deriv. selected from among arom. oxycarboxylic acids and arom. alkoxycarboxylic acids, a metallic compd. of the arom. carboxylic acid driv., an inorg. anion and an inorg. cation. When the amts. of the arom. carboxylic acid deriv., the metallic compd. and the inorg. anion are represented by A (wt.%), B (wt.%) and C (ppm), respectively, the conditions of 1:99<=A:B<=20:80 and C>=10<2> are satisfied.
