摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device having an improved visual field angle by providing the device with oriented films dividedly composed of a material which is oriented perpendicularly to a rubbing direction and a material which is oriented horizontally thereto. SOLUTION: Polarizing plates 80, 96 are formed on the outer side of a pair of upper and lower substrates 82, 94 and the first oriented films 84, 92 are formed on the inner side thereof. Second oriented film patterns 86, 90 oriented in the direction perpendicular to the orientation direction of the first oriented films 94, 92 are formed on the upper parts thereof. Liquid crystal molecules 88A, 88B are injected into the internal space between the upper and lower substrates 82, 94. Since the orientation directions of the first oriented films 84, 92 and the second oriented film patterns 86, 90 vary, the tilt angles of the liquid crystal molecules 88A injected between the first oriented films 84 and 92 and the liquid crystal molecules 88B injected between the second oriented film patterns 86, 90 vary. As a result, the incident light on the liquid crystal display device is subjected to optical compensation by the liquid crystal molecules 88A, 88B of the different tilt angles and the visual field angle is improved.</p>
