FIELD: radiation safety. SUBSTANCE: radioactive wastes are solidified by way of including into a stable solid medium. For this purpose, waste is calcined, mixed with frit, and placed layer-by-layer between sheets of non-radioactive glass in container. Space between container walls and calcined waste, frit, and glass sheets is filled with frit, whereupon container is heated to a temperature not lower than softening temperature of non-radioactive glass and not higher than its deformation temperature, and allowed to stay at this temperature for at least 0.5 h and then cooled.
