PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a display device by which the peripheral map display screen of the position of an own vehicle is redisplayed automatically when the own vehicle is running or when a user does not perform any operation for a definite time and by which a previous user-operated screen is redisplayed automatically when the own vehicle is stopped or when the user starts an operation. SOLUTION: In an device, the present position of an own vehicle is displayed on a display part 108 together with a map. The own vehicle is run while it is displaying a user-operated screen which is problematic, from the viewpoint of safety, to operate an operating part during a running operation. At this time, when a CPU 104 judges that the own vehicle starts a running operation or that a continuous nonoperating state is continued for a definite time, present user-operated screen information is retreated to a RAM 104b, and the display of the display part 108 is changed over automatically to the peripheral map display screen of the position of the own vehicle. In addition, when the CPU 104 judges that the running operation of the own vehicle is stopped or that a user starts an operation, the peripheral map display screen of the position of the own vehicle on the present display part 108 is changed over automatically to the user-operated screen which is retreated. |
