PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the display direction of characters on a soft keyboard coincide with the input direction of a character string, thereby unnecessitating that user's visual lines peruse in two directions by determining the display direction of the soft keyboard in accordance with character input direction information set up in a document format. SOLUTION: A character string in a sentence buffer 10 is displayed on a display screen in accordance with sentence display direction information 4. When the information 4 is horizontally set up, a sentence is horizontally displayed, and when the information 4 is vertically set up, the sentence is vertically set up. Then, the soft keyboard is displayed in accordance with the information 4/soft keyboard direction information 6/soft keyboard array information 8. When the setting of soft keyboard direction information is specified through the keyboard, the information 4 is set up so as to be displayed in accordance with sentence display direction information set up in the format. |
