FIELD: gas purification. SUBSTANCE: nitrogen oxide-containing effluent gas saturated with water vapor is cooled in cooler-condenser to a temperature below dew- point and then passed through a bed at least 1 cm high composed of granules with size ranged from 0.5 to 5.0 mm, NO/HO ratio in original gas being such as to provide nitric acid concentration in condensate not higher than 10 wt %. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of removing both nitrogen dioxide and oxide.
