The water supply economiser has a solenoid valve (1) controlled by an electronic circuit (2) and can be fitted to existing installations or incorporated at initial manufacture. A pump (3) supplies water recycled from, for example, a washing machine to a toilet cistern. Alternatively the early rinse cycles of a washing machine, when the water is discarded, may be supplied with recycled water. A central reservoir (5) is used to hold the recycled water. It takes its supply from one or more water recycling outlets, using the solenoid valve to control inflow. The outflow is drawn by the pump. An electronic controller monitors usage in the system and controls operation of the solenoid valve and pump.
