PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly detect the density and flowrate of a solid by causing a radio wave to propagate through a solid-liquid mixture fluid flowing in a pipeline, and measuring a propagation loss. SOLUTION: A data processor(DP) 11 issues a switch selection instruction to transmission and receiving switch circuits 13 and 14, thereby connecting a transmitter 12 to a transmission antenna T1 and a receiver 15 to a receiving antenna R1. Then, the DP 1 activates a timing control circuit 16. As a result, transmission pulses are emitted from the antenna T1 to an insulated pipeline, and fed from the antenna R1 to the receiver 15 through the switch circuit 14 after propagation through muddy water. Furthermore, the pulses are sampled synchronously with strobe pulses from the control circuit 16, and held over a period equivalent to the period of transmission timing signals. Thereafter, a similar process takes place and the time base of received pulses on the basis of pulse transmission and receiving between the transmission antenna T1 and the receiving antenna R1 is extended. Also, the DP 11 detects the amplitude of pulses received from the receiver 15 and calculates the space density of sediment in muddy water on the basis of radio wave transmittance obtained from the average value of the received pulses. |
