The antifreeze composition comprises liquid alcohol, soluble in water and lowering the freezing point and a corrosion inhibitor system. The corrosion inhibitor system comprises: (a) at least one or several non-amino carboxylic acids or one or several alkaline metal salts, of ammonium or amino carboxylic acid; (b) at least one or several diazole-1,3 chosen from imidazole, benzimidazole, imidazoline and their hydrocarbon or amino-hydrocarbon derivatives; and (c) at least one or several amino carboxylic acids or one or several metal alkaline salts, of ammonium or amine of the amino-acid. Also claimed are: (i) an aqueous heat transfer fluid of low freezing point containing water and 10-90 wt.% of the above antifreeze composition; and (ii) the treatment of the aqueous fluid containing a liquid alcohol soluble in water and lowering the freezing point, to reduce metallic corrosion by contact with the fluid, by addition of a corrosion inhibitor system as above.
