摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the instability of a zero point and reduce adjusting work manhour at a sensor adjusting process for the reduction of cost by providing a switch for detecting whether torque is applied to a torque transmission shaft. SOLUTION: A steering shaft 4 is fitted with a torque sensor 7 capable of detecting the direction and magnitude of torque acting thereon, and a torque switch 8 capable of detecting whether torque is applied or not. The shaft 4 is divided at the torque switch 8 in a lengthwise direction, and engagement projections 18 and 19 are respectively formed on one end 16 and the other end 17 of the divided portion of the shaft 4. Also, the projections 18 and 19 have a plurality of circular arc gearing teeth 20 and 21 formed at a gap in a peripheral direction. According to this construction, when the shaft 4 is not subjected to torque, a gap 22 is formed between the gearing teeth 20 and 21, and the projections 18 and 19 do not come in contact with each other. Also, when torque is applied to the shaft 4, the gap 22 narrows and the projections 18 and 19 come in contact with each other.</p>
