PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic instrument which allows playing a melody or accompanying through a simple operation. SOLUTION: This electronic instrument has a pad P and fret switched FS, and produces musical sounds by striking the pad P while pressing the fret switch FS. In a melody-1 mode, on note event is read every time the pad is operated, so that the previous sound is damped as the next sound is issued, allowing easily playing somewhat legato. If equipped, playing somewhat staccato is also made possible by operating a mute switch MS. In melody-2, base, chord-1, and chord-2 modes, every time the pad is operated the note event read from memory at that point of time is sounded. In an ad-lib mode, different pitches are allocated to the different fret switches FS, so that by operating the pad P while pressing either of the fret switches FS, the sound of the height allocated to the fret switch FS is sounded. |
