PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image processor and method for it which can give proper glossiness according to a record image by providing a means for deciding the type of an image based on a density control signal and a means for controlling the gloss of the image, based on the decision. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with an deciding means for deciding an image type, based on a density control signal in an electrophotographic process, and a means for controlling the electrophtographic process in order to control image gloss, based on the image type decided by the deciding means. Based on the identification and the specification of a result, a gloss control part controls gloss which is given to an output image. A heater control circuit 33 controls the temperature of a fixing heater 31, based on a signal from a sensor 32, such as a thermister, which detects a fixing temperature and based on an image type deciding signal 34. The value of the temperature as a control target is set according to the image type so as to obtain glossiness, and the properly glossy image is outputted. |
