PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a developer having color toners free from a color mixture and ensuring image, smoothness, reducing the gloss in a monochromic image and giving an image area easy to read. SOLUTION: This developer consists of color toners obtd. by mixing at least a resin binder and a releasing agent with each of yellow, magenta and cyan colorants and a black toner obtd. by mixing at least a resin binder and a releasing agent with a black colorant. The resin binders are made of the same resin and the softening point (Tr) of the resin binder, the softening point (Tct) of each of the color toners and the softening points (Tbc) of the black toner satisfy the conditions of Tr-12<=Tct
