PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a display device in which a map information amount in the advance direction of an own vehicle and that on the arbitrary right or left side are increased by a method wherein a display part is turned by 90 deg. to the left or the right and a map display is changed so as to match its rotation in such a way that the advance direction of the own vehicle is directed upward. SOLUTION: A rotation detection means 39 detects that a display part 8 is turned by 90 deg. to the left or the right. A map display which is displayed on the display part 8 so as to match the direction of rotation of the left or the right detected by the rotation detection means 39 is performed so as to be turned in such a way that the advance direction of an own vehicle on a map is directed upward with reference to a display screen by a CPU (central processing unit) 10. When the display part 8 is turned to the right, the position of the own vehicle on a map displayed on the display part 8 is displayed so as to be shifted to the left from the center. When the display part 8 is turned to the left, the position of the own vehicle on the map displayed on the display part 8 is displayed so as to be shifted to the right from the center.
