PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare gas discharge lamp device which can be constructed simple and mall and in which a lens body is capable of being installed in any desired position without being influenced by the lamp outside diameter significantly. SOLUTION: A rare gas discharge lamp 1 is structured so that a pair of band-shaped external electrodes are installed separately on the outside surface of a glass bulb 2 equipped interiorly with a light emission layer 3 and that a rare gas is encapsulated in the glass bulb, while a lens body 6A is formed so that a protrusion 10 is provided rigidly at least at one end of a long stretching lens part 7 having a light condensing function. Besides them, the arrangement includes a cover member 12. At least one end of this rare gas discharge lamp 1 is accommodated in the cover member 12, and the lens body 6A is installed between external electrodes at the outside surface of the lamp 1 in tight contact or proximity so that the protrusion 10 is engaged by the outside surface of the cover member 12, and thereby mounting of the lens body 6A in the lamp 1 can be conducted easily. |
