PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily, speedily, and accurately match connection end surfaces of optical components with each other. SOLUTION: A waveguide chip 3 is fixed on a 1st stage 5 and an optical connector 4 is arranged on the side of a 2nd stage 6. The 2nd stage 6 is provided with a steel ball 18 which freely moves in a frame 15 at least in an optical-axis Z direction, a horizontal X direction, and aθy rotation direction, a holder 13 fixed to a holder fixation base 12 is provided above the steel ball 18 to grip the optical connector 4 in the holder 13, and a weight is connected to the holder fixation base 12 through a wire 10 and a pulley 9 to force the holder fixation base 12 to move forward to a waveguide chip 3 with the load of the weight. The optical connector 4 is moved toward the waveguide chip 3 together with the holder fixation base 12 and when the connection end surfaces 34 and 32 abut against each other on one side, the optical connector 4 is made to rotate in theθy direction by being given the said forward moving force, thereby matching the connection end surfaces 32 and 34.
