<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for simply allocating VPI at every multiplexed transmission unit and for simplifying control by fixedly allocating the transmission unit virtual path identifier(VPI) of an ATM system multiplex signal at every transmission unit of lowest rate and allocating VPI in the specified transmission unit to a higher rate transmission unit. SOLUTION: The transmission unit VPI of the ATM system multiplex signal is fixedly allocated at every transmission unit of the lowest rate among the multiplexed transmission units. Transmission unit VPI obtained by substituting the lowest bit in the transmission unit of the lowest speed for a prescribed value is allocated to the transmission unit of higher rate. The device is provided with an STM signal input part 1, a VPI value table 2, a cell making part 4 and an ATM signal output part 5, for example. A VPI value taken out from the VPI value table 2 is simply converted based on transmission unit information outputted from the STM signal input part 1. Thus, the VPI value inserted into a header is generated.</p> |
