PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a tension detector capable of accurately detecting the tension of a tape even at the time of rolling. SOLUTION: Two tension detecting mechanisms 500, 550 are arranged, which are respectively provided with rotatable arms 501, 551, posts 502, 552 arranged on these arms, spring bodies 503, 553 for making the arms to generate the torque in the opposite directions against the torque generated by the tension of the tape 2, and position detecting means for detecting the positions of arms, then centers of gravity of the arms including the posts are arranged so as to position respectively on rotational axes of the arms 501, 551. Also, the rotating directions of two arms are made opposite when the tension of the tape 2 is changed, then added signal of each signal outputted from each tension detecting mechanism is defined to the tension detecting signal.
