The claimed polyhydroxy amide sulphosuccinates have formula (1), where R<1> is an alkyl group, R<2>CO is an acyl group, y is a number between 3 and 9 and Z(OX)y is a polyhydroxy hydrocarbon group partially esterified with maleic acid or maleic acid anhydride and subsequently sulphited, and X is hydrogen or a sulphosuccinate group. The claimed sulphosuccinates and in particular mixtures thereof with fatty alcohol alkoxylate-sulphosuccinates have among other things very good foaming qualities, very good skin compatability and an unexpectedly high capacity for thickening in combination with standard ether sulphates and alkali metal salts such as sodium chloride. |
