Pressure filtration unit removes flocs and suspended matter in potable water treatment

In the pressurised system used, the filter bed is contained in a pressure vessel. A line supplies the water under pressure, another takes away filtered, purified water. In the novel arrangement, the purified water from the filter is also under pressure, and in the supply line, a pressure governor and a flow controller are included. Also claimed is the corresponding process, in which the water supplied to the filter is held at constant pressure, with control of its volumetric flow rate. Preferably, on reaching a set pressure differential across the filter, the supply is shut down.
