PROCESS FOR MAKING SHAPED PACKAGES

A process for making cold-formed packages with at least one recess of a metal-plastic composite (20). Examples of such packages are the bases of push-out or blister packs. According to the process, the composite (20) is secured between a clamp (5) and a matrix (1). The matrix (1) has at least one depression aperture (8) and a die (6) is pushed into said aperture (8), whereby the composite (20) is shaped with one or more depressions to form the package. The matrix (1) and the clamp (5) have mating edge regions (11, 12) and within the edge region (11) the matrix (1) has a shoulder region (13) which surrounds the depression aperture(s) (8). The surface of the shoulder region (13) is 0.01 to 100 mm deeper than the surface of the edge region (11) of the matrix (1) and (a) first die(s) (6) with a high-friction shaping surface shape(s) the metal-plastic composite (20) in one or more steps to 100 % of the final depth of the depressions, whereafter (a) second die(s) (6) with a low-friction shaping surface finally shapes the pre-pressed metal-plastic composite (20) to at least 100 % of the final depth of the depressions in one or more steps.
