A method of selecting a book for reading in an electronic book includes displaying a first graphical book representation (200) and a second graphical book representation (204). A title (210) of a first book of a plurality of books is displayed on the second graphical book representation (204). In response to receiving a first user-initiated event in which a portion of the first graphical book representation (200) is selected, a title of a second book of the plurality of books is displayed in place of the title (210) of the first book. In response to receiving a second user-initiated event in which a portion of the second graphical book representation (204) is selected, machine-readable data is read from a machine-readable storage medium (136) installed in the electronic book. The text from the second book, which is represented by machine-readable data, is displayed.
