Sexto and quarto roll stands

The sexto roll stand incorporates two functional units built into the windows (16) of both columns (14, 15). Each functional unit consists of four adjustment cylinder units (18, 18, 19, 19) which are arranged symmetrically and parallel to the plane (17-17) of the roll axes. Each cylinder unit (18, 19) is made up of an upper cylinder (18a, 19a) with a piston (20a, 21a) acting on the mounting block (12) of the upper support roll (10), and a lower cylinder (18b, 19b) with a piston (20b, 21b) acting on the mounting block (13) of the lower support roll (11) for equilibration of the support roll (10). The cylinders (18a, 18b; 19a, 19b) carry hydraulically displaceable sleeves (24a, 24b; 25a, 25b) acting on the intermediate rolls (6, 7) and the working rolls (2, 3) via their respective mounting blocks. The quarto roll stand is characterised by a similar arrangement of cylinder units and sleeves.
