ROTARY SPRINKLER WITHOUT DYNAMIC SEALS

A rotary drive sprinkler comprising a housing (2) with a water inlet (8) for coupling to a water irrigation supply and an outlet nozzle (24). A drive shaft (18) is rotatably retained within the housing (2) and has a portion extending from the housing (2) through the outlet nozzle (24), around which water is adapted to flow. A rotary distribution member (28) is fixedly articulated to the portion of the shaft (18) and has at least one deflection surface (32) in stream communication with the outlet nozzle (24). The housing (2) also accomodates a rotary drive mechanism (10) for rotating the drive shaft (18) and a speed regulating mechanism for regulating the speed of rotation of the distribution member (28). The arrangement is such that the sprinkler is devoid of any dynamic seals.
