<p>A mechanism for finely moving the head of an apparatus for reading and writing information from and to a recording disk by the use of a head (4), which is disposed at a part of a head actuator (HA) for moving the head (4) in a radial direction of the recording disk and positioning it to a desired recording track on the recording disk, and which can move the head (4) independent of the motion of this head actuator (HA). The mechanism comprises expandable regions (12) arranged apart by a gap (15) nearly in symmetry with respect to the centerline of the head actuator (HA), expandable members (14) fixedly disposed on both or one of the surfaces of the expandable regions (12) and expanding or contracting the regions (12) due to deformation thereof when a current is applied thereto, fixed regions each disposed at one of the ends of each expandable region (12) continuously with the expandable region (12), and not displaced due to the expansion of the expandable regions (12), movable regions (11) each disposed continuously at the other end of each expandable region (12) and displaced due to the expansion of the expandable region (12), and at least one hinge member (13) interposed between the movable regions (12) or between the movable regions (11) and the expandable regions (12), and permitting smooth displacement of the movable regions (11) on the moving plane of the head (4). <IMAGE></p> |
