The invention relates to a catheter. This catheter comprises a tube-like basic body with a proximal end and a distal end, a connecting member arranged at the proximal end and an electrode array carried at the distal end. The electrode array is plate-like and arranged on a pliable carrier which can be moved between a folded state and an unfolded state transversely to the catheter. Folding means have been arranged for the purpose of moving the carrier between the folded state and the unfolded state.
