Based on a known method, in which, to monitor correct processing in the program, reinitialising instructions are left for a time function element, the time factor of which runs out if it is not reinitialised, thus generating a fault report, a monitoring method for processing program modules in a multitasking operating system is proposed. In this method, each time a high-priority program module is allocated, a counter value ZW is increased or decreased, depending on a binary direction value RW. Only when a final value is reached is no reinitialisation instruction executed. The binary direction value RW is set each time a low-priority program module is allocated, depending on the counter value ZW. By this mutual dependence, which has an interlacing effect, a high degree of certainty of fault recognition is achieved, as well as monitoring of all program modules which have priority values between those of the high-priority and low-priority program module.

|
