PURPOSE:To permit an easier and faster operation by providing a region deciding means which decides whether a variable power optical system is in a variable power region or macro region. CONSTITUTION:This device has a region deciding part 9 as the region deciding means which subjects information Zp on a focal distance and information Sx on a focal position respectively to A/D conversion upon receipt of said information, decides the existence of the variable power optical system 2 in either the variable power region or the macro region and outputs a NOT signal NG 2 when said system does not exist in the macro region. Whether a subject existing at a distance nearer than a very close distance can be photographed in the macro region or not is thereby exactly decided with high accuracy. The information on the operation acceleration to urge an operator to make a shift operation to the macro region is thus announced to the operator. The wasteful operation by the operator and the wasteful consumption of the time are thereby eliminated. |
