A pressuriser connected to the primary coolant circuit of a pressurised water nuclear reactor comprises an upright vessel (21) containing boiling water and steam, whose temperature is increased by electric heating elements (22) in its lower half and reduced as required by feeding relatively cold water to sprays (24a) in its upper half. Steam is fed from the vessel (21) by a line (28) to the nozzle of an injection pump (26), which draws water from the cold side of the reactor circuit and delivers a steam-water mixture back to the vessel by a line (25) and sprays (24a).
|
