PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high precision and high quality automatic welding by controlling a welding power source and a welding head based on the correction data transferred from a means for calculating correcting conditions and thereby performing multi-layer welding from the second layer onwards. SOLUTION: A welding torch control means 12b carries out the initial layer welding by controlling a welding power source 6 and a welding head 5, based on the welding technical data in a means 12a for storing such data. The welding power source 6 and the welding head 5 are then controlled based on such correction data for the welding technical data as transferred from a means 14b for calculating correcting conditions, thereby performing welding from the second layer onwards and multi-layer welding. Before and during the welding of each layer, the groove position and its cross-sectional shape of the welding work are measured in real time by a non-contact type shape sensor 13, so that the multi-layer welding is performed on the basis of the correction data calculated to obtain a set bead height. As a result, high precision and high quality automatic welding is made possible also for the variations of edge preparation or a groove cross section. |
