PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally insulated engine capable of igniting and burning kerosene and vegetable oil of low cetane number and low octane number as vaporizing fuels. SOLUTION: In a thermally insulated engine, a sub-chamber 2 and a fuel feed chamber 5 are provided on a cylinder head 7, a communication hole valve 4 is arranged in a communication hole 13 to communicate a main chamber 1 with the sub-chamber 2, the vaporizing fuel which is obtained by vaporizing the fuel of kerosene and vegetable oil of low cetane number is sprayed into the sub-chamber 2, and the vaporizing fuel is mixed with the high pressure air in the main chamber 1 close to the end of the compression stroke for ignition and combustion. A controller 20 controls to change a fuel feed route between in the engine starting condition and in the normal operating condition, the fuel is vaporized by a heater 45 provided in the fuel feed chamber 5 in the engine starting condition while the fuel is vaporized by the thermal energy of the exhaust gas through a heat exchanger 24 in the normal operating condition, and the vaporized fuel is sprayed into the sub-chamber 2 to be ignited and burned. |
