A disposable absorbent article including a backsheet layer, a liquid permeable topsheet layer superposed on said backsheet layer and an absorbent body located between the topsheet layer and the backsheet layer. The absorbent article further includes elasticized side panels located at each laterally opposed end region of at least one of said front and rear waistband sections. The article includes fastening means for securing the article on a wearer by forming overlapped portions. A tackified area is located in at least one of the overlapped portions. The tackified area comprises a tackifying agent providing a coefficient of friction for the overlapped portions of less than about 350 grams. The tackified areas serve to maintain the relative positions of the portions of the disposable absorbent article forming the overlapped portions.
