摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an enclosed-electrode liq. crystal display element wherein liq. crystal molecules at the interface between a liq. crystal orientation film and a liq. crystal layer can be oriented without a pretilt angle by using a specific material for forming the liq. crystal orientation film. SOLUTION: In this enclosed-electrode liq. crystal display element, both a liq. crystal orientation film 3 formed on one side 1A of a substrate plate 1 and a liq. crystal orientation film 6 formed on one side 4A of a counter substrate plate 4 are formed from a polyamic acid and/or an imide polymer obtd. by cyclodehydrating the polyamic acid. The polyamic acid is obtd. by reacting a tetracarboxylic dianhydride represented by formula I (wherein R<1> is an org. group) with a diamine compd. represented by formula II (wherein R<2> , R<5> , R<6> , and R<7> are each an alkyl, an alkoxy, or a halogen; (a), (d), (e), and (f) are each 0-4; R<3> and R<4> are each an org. group; and (b) and (c) are each 0 or 1) and/or a diamine compd. represented by formula III (wherein R<8> , R<11> , R<12> , and R<13> are each an alkyl, an alkoxy, or a halogen; (g), (j), (k), and (l) are each 0-4; R<9> and R<10> are each an org. group; and (h) and (i) are each 0 or 1).
