PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition by combining a sulfonyl semicarbazide derivative or its salt as a freshness preservative for a cut flower with a specific compound, having synergistically enhanced freshness retaining effects compared with separate use of each component. SOLUTION: This composition uses both a sulfonyl semicarbazide derivative of the formula [R<1> is an alkyl, phenyl, pyridyl or thienyl; R<2> and R<3> are each H, an alkyl, an alkoxyaryl, an alkoxyalkyl, an alkoxycarbonyl of the formula C(=X)-X-R<4> (X is O or S; R<4> is an alkyl), an alkylthiocarbonyl, or R<2> and R<3> form morpholino, piperidino or a group of the formula N=CR<5> (R<6> ) (R<5> and R<6> are each an alkyl) with an adjoining N] or its salt and at least one gibberellin. 1-Dimethyl-4-(phenylsulfonyl)semicarbazide is preferable as the compound of the formula. Gibberellin A3 is especially as the gibberellin. The ratio of the compound of the formula and the gibberellin is preferably 1:(0.001-10), especially preferably 1:(0.01-1). |
