摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize a method capable of producing a carbonic acid ester at a high reaction rate and in high selectivity by adding a chloride of a specific metal in a liquid phase method for producing various kinds of carbonic acid esters from carbon monoxide and a nitrous acid ester in the presence of a platinum group catalyst. SOLUTION: Carbon monoxide and a nitrous acid ester are subjected to a liquid-phase catalytic reaction by using both a catalyst comprising a platinum group metal or its salt and a chloride of at least one metal selected from copper, cobalt, bismuth, manganese, tungsten, antimony, vanadium, molybdenum and tellurium. The used amount of the platinum group catalyst is preferably about 1-100 wt.ppm calculated as a metal based on the reaction solution. For example, cupric chloride, ferric chloride, cobalt chloride, etc., are used as the chloride of the metal. The used amount of the chloride of the metal is about 10-300 times, especially about 30-150 times as much as that of the platinum group metal. A high-boiling carbonic acid ester (useful as a lubricant) is advantageously obtained by this method.
